1. What do you keep a stock pile of?
Nothing on purpose, but I do have a bunch of lotion, shower gel, shampoo samples, etc. I should really never buy any personal care items until it's all gone, but I do.
I also have a stock pile of clothes. As in, I have waaaaay too many!
2. If Ben & Jerry asked you to invent an ice cream, what would it be?
There was a reason why I wasn't a food science major in college. I couldn't come up with something they haven't already. I mean, they have soooooo many good flavors!
3. How do you blow off steam?
I'm a big 'cry when I get mad' kind of girl. Lately I've been running alot, so that has helped. And I really haven't had much happen in my life lately that has made me want to blow off steam! Which I guess could be good?
4. What would you do if you had an hour to yourself anywhere within a ten mile radius of your home...no kids, no hubby, just you?
This is my everyday life. I have all the free time I want, which I guess is a good thing because I enjoy being able to do whatever I want, when I want.
5. When you were 16, what was your curfew in the summertime?
Most of the time we just had to be home by dark, but if I was 'out' I was most likely at Erin's house which was just down the street and I would just call when I was coming home or if I was staying there. But I was never just out to be out.

Summer To-Do List
Now that it is officially summer, I'm making a list of all the things I want to do before it ends.
The weather here in Ohio has actually been summer like since mid-March, so I've already done a lot of summer like activities, but there are a bunch more that I want to do too!
And of course, I'll be adding to it as the summer goes on, I'm sure.
So here she goes...
Do the High Ropes course at FFA Camp
Go parasailing on vacation
Go to a Reds or Indians game
Finally get a bike to ride around town
Go to a movie in Ohio Stadium
Go to Zoombezi Bay or a waterpark
Run every night no mater how hot it is
Take piano lessons
Learn to ride a horse
Finish my quilt and enter it in the Ohio State Fair
Go to four county fairs (Franklin, Pike, Hartford Independent)
Go to the Ohio State Fair

Emily goes Brunette!
I did it. I made my hair my natural color - or at least as close to my natural color as Kelli could get it. It's going to lighten up a little!
And the verdict? I love it! (Especially this picture with Erin and Dawn from Saturday night!)
I've been daydreaming of long dark hair forever. I've been pinning pictures like these below on pinterest forever! And when I finally decide to cut it all off and donate it, it will be the same color to donate.
Making my hair my natural hair color is also one of the 101 things I want to do in 1001 days.

I'm on YouTube!
I took a digital storytelling class through our Digital Union. During this time I had to produce a "personal story" video, so I tried to tie it into something that I could use for work as well, since they were paying for me to go and all! :)
This is my very first experience in editing video, so it's obviously far from perfect. I'll be making lots of changes in the next few weeks before they do a final package to add to their website.
I have a whole bunch of ideas of videos I want to make in the future! :)
But for now, why I loved my college!
(You may want to turn your speakers down because I obviously made the music way too loud. Then you have to turn them back up to hear me talk!) :)

Five Question Friday - 6.15.2012
1. Would you grow your hair out to donate it?
This is actually what I'm doing right now!! My hair has always been around shoulder length or a little longer and last summer I decided I wanted it short, but I was first going to grow it out to cut it. So I thought it'd be long enough by October. Nope. Then December. Nope. Then February. Nope. Then I decided I kind of liked it long and if I got 10 inches cut off it would be super, super short.
So for now I'm just letting it grow as long as I please until I get sick of it or 10 inches makes it be to my shoulders. :)
Donating my hair to Locks of Love (or a similar organization) is one of the things on my bucket list.
3. Are you a flip flops or sandals kind of person?
I've always been a flip flops girl - had about a million pair in every color. Now I'm down to two pair - classic black and navy blue. I had a pair of nice brown leather ones, but they broke last summer, so I need to get a new pair before they're all gone from American Eagle. (Hitting up the mall is something I am going to do next week while living in suburbia.) :)
I've also always wanted a pair of the gladiator sandals. I'm not sure if that's what they're called, because I definitely don't want the ones with the straps around the ankles, but my mom got me a pair of turquoise ones for my birthday and I think I'm going to get a pair of silver or gold ones from Target next time I'm there.

4. Favorite summer treat (ie ice cream, snow cones, etc)?
Ice cream for sure. I could eat it every night and usually do during the summer.

5. Do you do something special for the father of your children?
I have no children, but if I did he'd get a pretty good gift! (Incentive?)

My Life
I've been a fur mama for one week now.
And I've never found a meme on Pinterest so SPOT ON of my life EVER!
Last night Bowie and I fell asleep on the couch. I woke up around 1:30am and went to bed. She followed behind me and decided it was time to play.
If she would just sleep at my feet it would be awesome. But she wants to snuggle right up next to my face. Not my arm or let, right in my face. The back of my head won't even do. I roll over, she moves. OMG.
So after 15 minutes of annoyment, I move her out and shut my bedroom door. I give up and give her free roam of the house. At this point, I would rather her pull my curtains down and just let me sleep.
Nope. She doesn't want to freely roam around my house, she wants back in my bedroom. So she scratches and whines outside my bedroom door until I can't take it anymore.
She's hungry. It's now 3:30am. So I open that stinky wet cat food that her vet gave me and she runs to her dish and starts eating. I shut her in the bathroom and turn out the light. Shut my bedroom door and turn on the fan to drown out the whining and sleep until my alarm has gone off for twenty minutes.
If she wasn't so darn cute she would have been on craiglist this morning.
I am never having a baby!
Becoming a Princess
I mentioned a while back that I was planning on running the Disney Princess Half Marathon with one of my best friends in February. 13.1 miles. That seems like A LOT of running for me. Especially after I didn't do as hot as I thought I would during my first 5K that I actually trained for back in April.
So I found this training schedule online. I'm not sure how accurate the information is, but I figured it had to be more accurate than anything I would come up with in my head.
So watch my progress as I cross off runs and work to becoming a real princess at Disney World. :)
12 weeks from my start date (April 30, 2012) would technically be July 23, which is about six months before I actually have to run. So I think I'm going to make each "week" actually two weeks.

Meet Bowie
Late last week I got a new roommate. More like a child, really.
I have always thought kittens were super cute. I had a ton of them at my grandparents farm when I was little. And the bushes in front of my parents house always seemed to be a breeding grounds too. We had Calli (a calico cat, imagine that) when we were little and she was always having kittens in and around our yard. She was a little bit of a fluzey.
A few months ago I started thinking about getting a kitten to have around the house and lots of people said they knew of someone that had a litter, I'd just have to wait, etc. Then I was sooooo close to getting a grown cat from my friend that is moving.
So when her siblings went missing, I told her to snatch that cute little thing up, because I didn't want her to be eaten by something else.
So without further adieu, meet Bowie.
She joined the Virginia Plantation last week. And she's been pretty darn enjoyable and is ultra cute. She's so tiny, too!
I was trying to think of a cute, somewhat meaningful name for her and I settled on Bowie for two reasons:
I wanted the name to be meaningful. I like stories behind names (including human names, that's why I love Sarah Palin's kids' names). So I kind of wanted them to be "Ohio State-ish" because I did spend four years there, but I didn't want to name her Buckeye or Brutus, because everyone and their brother have a dog named that. I love how my friend Lauren named her two super cute dogs Annie and Ellie after Ann Hayes (Woody's wife) and Ellen Tressel (Jimmy's wife). So they're Ohio State-ish, but not straight up "Buckeye."
And I also have this thing for Tim Tebow. I think he's a super classy guy. Awesome football player and an all around good guy, great role model. He doesn't let others or the media influence his beliefs and he's pretty dang hot too. But again, I didn't want to call her "Tebow." That's not very girly.
So factoring in Ohio State and Tim Tebow, I came up with Bowie (since Ohio State's president E. Gordan Gee wears a bow tie every day). And because I saw this adorable youtube video last year that makes Bowie a legit name. #perf
We went to the vet for the first time last night. I was completely thrilled with the vet appointment, so I may be going somewhere else in the future, but for now he said she was completely healthy - no AIDS, cat cancer or parasites. Next time we go back she'll be getting shots.
And she weighs 1.1 pounds. She is a tiny thing!
But so full of personality and adorableness.
And my sister and all of her friends and all of the students in my department are making fun of me for being a crazy cat lady. Oh well. She's my first pet ever!

Happy Birthday Best Friend.
Happy Birthday to my best friend! :)
Erin and I have been best friends for about 14 years now. It is hard to believe that it's been that long. We have known each other for about 20 years, well, technically probably longer than that.
But we became best friends during the summer of 1997 when we got the bright idea to run cross country. She stuck with it throughout high school (I did not, but here 15 years later I am running 5K's and training for half-marathons so it must have been a blessing in disguise that I tried it out back then!)

Happy Birthday Best Friend. Can't wait for your little one to join the world so I can be an aunt! :)
Five Question Friday - 6.1.2012
1. What were you scared of as a kid?
Oh goodness! Probably the biggest thing was around late elementary/early junior high I was always afraid of going somewhere and being sick to my stomach. I didn't like to go out to eat, to the mall, on vacation. I had horrible anxiety and panic attacks everywhere we went. The first one I remember was in 2nd grade. The last one was about a year and a half ago! ha.
I wasn't a big risk taker as a youngin'. I'm still not, but I'm working on taking risks and trying new things. :) I mean, I did donate blood last week and that was something I always said I would never do!!
2. Do you sleep well in a hotel?
I do. If I'm tired, I'm out like a light. Unless the hallways are noisy or someone in the room is snoring!
3. If you could meet any celebrity, dead or alive, who and why?
3. If you could meet any celebrity, dead or alive, who and why?
Martha Stewart, because we could craft together.
Stacy London, so she could take me shopping.
Jillian Michaels, so she could keep me in tip top shape.
Tim Tebow or James Laurinaitis, so we could get married.
4. It's a hot summer day. Do you prefer to be pool side or at the beach?
4. It's a hot summer day. Do you prefer to be pool side or at the beach?
On the beach. With my headphones, a back full of books and a nice breeze. A margarita could work too.
5. What is your favorite summer dish?
5. What is your favorite summer dish?
Nothing sounds like summer food to me more than grilling out at my Mam and Papaw's. With Mam's awesome side dishes (green beans and corn from the garden, potatoes of some sort, macaroni and baked beans (made with Splenda!).
