A few years ago - like 5, it was 2008/2009 - I was really good about using coupons and moving whatever money I saved into a separate savings account. In less than a year I had saved enough to purchase a Canon Rebel camera, which costs about $500. So I was pretty pleased. It was a great way to show that saving a little each time, actually adds up.
I'm going to attempt to do this again in 2015. I don't know what it is yet that I want to purchase with my big savings, but maybe I will figure that out along the way.
Update (1/27/15): I've decided to save for a pair of snow skis. On sale, they're about $200, plus you have to buy the boots, and the poles, and the bindings. And this is hoping they're on sale. So I'll see yo
